We, representatives of Member-Associations of the Confederation of African Medical Associations and Societies (CAMAS) meeting at an Extra-ordinary General Assembly on September 20-22, 1997 with an unprecedented attendance of seventeen (17) member Associations from 17 African Countries:

A. noting with great concern the fact that a group of people, namely Prof. John Shao (Tanzania), Prof. Ope Adekunle (Nigeria) and Dr. 1. F. Adewole (Nigeria), have been holding and parading themselves as current Officers of CAMAS.
B. realizing that the said persons are continuosly transacting businesses in the name of CAMAS
Do hereby resolve and be it resolved that:
1. We recognise fully the CAMAS General Assembly which was held at OTA (near Lagos), Nigeria on September 2 - 3, 1996 and uphold its decisions thereof including the election of the Executive Board headed by Dr. Boniface A. Oye-Adeniran as the CAMAS President.
No other body of individual shall hold itself out nor transact any business as officers or Executive Board of CAMAS.
