Section 15(4) of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Act Cap 221 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990 stipulates that the Medical & Dental Practitioners' Investigating Panel shall consist of 15 members at least 3 of whom shall be dental surgeons. The IP is thus a statutory body whose duty, by law, is to conduct preliminary investigations into complaints that are made with respect to the professional conduct of registered Medical and Dental Practitioners' when a prima facie case has been established against the practitioners, the case shall be referred to the Disciplinary Tribunal which shall adjudicate on the matter.
