Fimbrio-Fimbra Ectopic Pregnancy: A Case Report

S O A Ojenuwah

SUMMARY

Objective: To document an unusual tubal ectopic pregnancy

Method: Documentation of the clinical presentation and management of a 20 year old primigravidae with unruptured fimbrio-fimbra ectopic pregnancy.

Results: The patient had exploratory laparotomy for unruptured ectopic pregnancy. She had a modified salpingotomy and plication of the mesosalpinx. She had patent tubes with contrast spillage at hysterosalpingography 3 months after surgery.

Conclusion: Recognized conservative tubal surgical techniques may not be applicable to all cases especially for bizarre ones. Modification of known techniques is therefore unavoidable. This is very important in our patients who report late coupled with the fact that modern diagnostic tests e.g. Blood â - HCG pregnancy test, transvaginal ultrasound and laparoscopy may not be readily available in most centres in Nigeria.
