Migratory Foreign Body Of Aerodigestive Tract - A Case Report

SUMMARY

The case presented is that of a 7-year-old girl who inhaled her earring. This was initially lodged in the right bronchial tree. Three days later it migrated to the left bronchial tree and finally to the digestive tract at about the 14th day when endoscopic removal was to be done. He eventually passed it in faeces on day 16.

This report is to exemplify the need to do x-ray studies close to endoscopic removal of foreign bodies of aerodigestive tract as was done in this case. The surgeon and patient were saved from what would have been a negative endoscopy and its possible complications. Niger. Med. J. 2003, Vol.44(2):50-51.
