The chairman,
Presidential Committee on a Harmonious work
Relationship Amongst Health Workers and Amongst
Professional Groups in the Health Sector through
Secretary to Committee/DHR
FMOH,
Abuja
Sir,
Re: submission of report of Presidential
Committee on a Harmonious work Relationship Amongst
Health Workers and Amongst Professional Groups in
the Health Sector.
On behalf of Nigerian Medical association, I wish to
express our great disappointment in the leadership
of your Committee for the obvious determination to
plunge this nation’s health sector into total
darkness by continuing with the premeditated,
skewed, malicious and ill-informed draft/report
which the NMA earlier rejected.
I am informed that you are billed to submit the
poison ivy called report on Thursday Nov 24 2011. I
got notice of this for the first time by email at
12noon yesterday 22nd November,2011. Please be
informed that you and your team will certainly be
remembered on the wrong side of history for the
negative consequences of that report if acted upon.
It is rather unfortunate that the good intention of
government in setting up the committee was hijacked
by parochial interests, envy and deliberate
ignorance. All the documents made available to your
committee to show how medicine is practiced all over
the world were jettisoned in favour of the desires
of a few groups. The health of Nigerians remains our
primary focus of interest and we shall do everything
lawful to protect that notwithstanding the magnitude
of the conspiracy clearly expressed in the
draft/report.
We unequivocally called for discard of the report
in order to escape from the judgment of history.
Where you fail to heed to this, please be informed
that the NMA will submit its own report as well to
government at a later date.
For the avoidance of doubt the NMA is fully in
support of harmony in the health sector, but not at
the expense of the lives of innocent Nigerians,
global best practices and the integrity of the
medical and dental profession. Your draft/report is
aggressively seeking to destroy these virtues and
promote anti-health, anti-medicine and anti-doctor
policies. It is rather unfortunate that such a high
powered committee dwelt on irrelevances to assuage
the ego of a few groups. We cannot reinvent the
wheel here in Nigeria, and there is no Nigerian
version of orthodox medicine and dentistry.
Thank you
Yours sincerely,
Thank you.

NMA President
Dr Bala M Audu,
NMA Secretary General
